Self Care

Taking care of your emotional health is a holistic process. What might work for some people, may not necessarily work for everyone. So it’s really important to try things out for size, to see what fits you.

Here are some of our suggestions of ways you might help yourself to start feeling calmer, more confident & uplifted.

We hope that you will find some ideas in this section that will make a real difference to your life.
Meditate
Meditation can be a great way to improve your emotional health, by reducing your stress & anxiety levels. Meditation teaches us to quieten our minds, pay attention to our thoughts in an accepting way and allow us to relax whilst living a busy, and often stressful, life.
Book a massage
With our schedules being as hectic as they sometimes are, it can be difficult to make time for yourself. Making the time to go for a massage, facial, or aromatherapy treatment can make a positive difference to the way that we feel. It’s a great way to release physical and emotional stress.New paragraph
Read a book
Self help books can support us to think differently about our difficulties and, as a result, change the way we feel.  You can also read a good fiction book, to transport you to a different time and place, if it is some casual time out you are looking for.
Get creative
Whether you are playing music, cooking a lovely meal, painting a beautiful picture, or just knitting a lovely scarf. These kind of activities serve to both clear your mind & soothe your soul.
Try yoga
Not only is yoga a great form of exercise, but it is also a great way to relax and clear your head. It is suitable for people of all ages & fitness levels & once you’ve got the hang of the postures, you can easily do yoga in your own home.New paragraph
Eat well
What we eat & drink affects how we feel. A diet that is high in fat, sugars & artificial chemicals can leave us feeling low, tired & sluggish. By replacing this kind of food with a more natural & healthy diet, you should see an improvement in your energy levels & mood.
Dance
Dancing can lift our mood because it boosts our endorphins. It can be used to express emotion & release tension from our body. Even if you're no longer a clubber, draw the curtains, put on your favourite tunes & give it a go – it'll feel good!!New paragraph
Get out into nature
Escape from the hustle & bustle of life by visiting the countryside or coast. It is a great place to go to clear your mind & release the stresses of life. Even stepping away from the computer to take some deep breaths outside & look up at the sky can make an enormous difference to the way you feel.
Exercise
Raising your heart rate for 30 minutes (by going for a run, walk, bike ride, or even a swim) has been scientifically proven to boost our happy hormones. It can also give us a physical release for emotional tension, stress & anger.
